FAQ's

When should I begin contacting moving companies for estimates?

Try to provide the moving companies with as much notice as possible, especially if you are moving during the busy season (May-August). Four to six weeks from the actual move date is not too early for estimators to come into your home and start working on your moving plan and estimate. Try to decide which mover you will use at least two weeks from your actual load day.

If you decide to move with Sarge's Moving you will have a move coordinator that will help you select moving services (if needed) and answer any questions you may have throughout the entire process.

What is involved with an in-home estimate?

During an in-home estimate, a personal move coordinator will visit your home and estimate the weight and size of all of your belongings that you will be moving. They'll also discuss move details such as dates, packing services, etc., and address any questions you may have. After they visit they will customize a written estimate for your review.

How much will my move cost me?
Each move is different; therefore there is no standard cost. For the best move price, it is recommended that you have an estimator come conduct an in-home estimate. You may also submit an online estimate via our website (http://www.sargesmovingservice.com/online_estimate.php) for an approximate move price.

What packing options do you offer?

You can pack yourself, we can pack some of your belongings or we can pack everything. Sarge's Moving is here to personalize your move process and make this transition easier.
If you're interested in our packing services, you can discuss options with your move coordinator during your in-home estimate. What if I want to pack myself? I need some advice on how to pack my belongings. Can Sarge's Moving help?

You can certainly pack yourself. Visit our packing tips pages for advice on how to pack dishes, clothes, shoes and other items.

Can I leave the items in the drawers of my dresser or desk?
Clothing can remain in drawers of dressers; however, all other loose items need to be packed in boxes to prevent loss or damage. It is recommended that all items be removed from desk drawers.

How do I estimate the number of boxes that I will have?

If you haven't started packing yet, you'll need to estimate the number of boxes you'll have per room. If you are still unsure, the Sarge's Moving Service L.L.C. estimator can help with estimating how many and what size boxes you will need.

Will the driver load all the boxes that I packed?

As long as the driver deems them safe for transport the driver will load all the boxes you have packed. Should any boxes appear damaged or unstable prior to loading, the driver will notify you of the condition and discuss repacking those boxes for transport.

Am I protected against loss or damage while my goods are in transit?

Sarge's Moving Service L.L.C. provides an insurance plan standard for every move and can even offer you optional cargo insurance options if you so desire. Speak with your personal move coordinator regarding our insurance policies.

I need to add and/or remove items from my move plan. What should I do now?

Contact your move coordinator if you need to add or subtract any items from your move plan. They can assist you with any changes or updates. Keep in mind your cost estimate may change.

My move date changed. What should I do?

Contact your move coordinator as soon as you can if your move dates have changed. They can process any changes to your plan and discuss updates. Keep in mind that your estimate may change depending on the dates you selected.
